Soprano I
Hannah Watkins graduated from the University of North Texas in December 2023 with a degree in Choral Music Education and has begun working in the DFW area. A soprano section leader at St. Monica Catholic Church since 2022, Hannah has participated in many concerts and is currently serving as a Catechist for Confirmation Classes. She loves using her voice in praise and hopes to continue her career as intertwined into her faith life as she is able. During her undergraduate career, she has traveled with UNT's prestigious A Capella Choir (under the direction of Dr. Allen Hightower) to both Arkansas and Houston for performances and conventions. She looks forward to continuing her passion of teaching and learning after graduation.
Soprano II
Kerra Simmons earned her BM from the University of North Florida (UNF) in Vocal Performance with a Choral Conducting cognate and her MM in Choral Conducting at Texas State University, serving as Assistant Conductor for multiple ensembles at each. Her Masters research was on Gender Bias in Choral Conducting and the Development of Korean Choral Music. Ms. Simmons has been involved with choral music since junior high, was a three-year FMEA All-Stater, participated in three Divisional and National ACDA Honor Choirs, and sang in top vocal ensembles at her respective alma maters touring to places like South Africa, South Korea, and the Czech Republic. Most recently, Ms. Simmons was nominated for the GRAMMY© Music Educator Award. After completing her MM, Ms. Simmons taught music and English in Seoul, South Korea where she rewrote an English as a second language music curriculum. Upon her return to the U.S., she served as Associate Artistic Director & Interim Artistic Director of the world-renowned and GRAMMY© award-winning Texas Boys Choir. During this time she re-established the Singing Girls of Texas as its own independent organization within TCAA and helped to bring the singers to the same level of professionalism as the Texas Boys Choir. A passionate choral leader and music educator who believes in the power of music to bring together all people from different backgrounds and uses creative programming to intertwine various artistic mediums, Kerra Simmons is currently the Artistic Director of the Singing Girls of Texas (grades 7-12) at Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts and runs the Community Conducting Class for Texas Music Conservatory, all programs of Texas Center for Arts + Academics.
Alto I
Sydney Palomo is a graduate student at Texas Christian University studying vocal pedagogy. She graduated from Texas Christian University Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Music Education and a minor in Sociology. Throughout her undergraduate career, she was granted various performance and academic opportunities that broadened her knowledge of music education and its importance within our society. Sydney is a major advocate for social justice, mental health, and vocal wellness and believes that music is a channel for self-expression and serves as a vehicle to convey and promote prevalent social messages in our efforts to create a better world.
Alto II
A native of Fort Worth, TX, Zoe Mace is a junior Vocal Performance major at the University of Texas-Arlington and a student of Dr. David Grogan. She has performed with a wide variety of ensembles throughout the metroplex and is currently the Alto II Section Leader at St. Monica Catholic Church. She runs a small studio for private vocal lessons, as well as a babysitting business. As she finishes her undergraduate career, Zo ehopes to explore further her passion for vocal performance, especially in early music and jazz.
Tenor I
Michael Hand currently sings with the Fort Worth Chorale and has appeared in venues such as Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center and St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City. Michael has performed with ensembles like the Texas Tech University Choir, the Lubbock Chorale, and the Granbury Civic Chorus. Past performances include Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, Bach’s Singet dem Herrn, and Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice. He also has a background in instrumental music and marched euphonium in Texas Tech’s Goin’ Band from Raiderland.
Tenor II
Jake Rodriguez is a Tenor Section Leader at St. Monica Catholic Church. He went to Texas Woman's University for a Bachelor's Degree in Voice Performance and a Master's Degree in Vocal Pedagogy. He has performed with the Fort Worth Opera Company's productions of Silent Night, Hamlet, JFK, Carmen, Maria de Buenos Aires and more. He has also performed The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra and with several opera companies and churches in the metroplex. He is currently the Head Choir Director at North Side High School in Fort Worth, TX.
Baritone
With over 85 roles in his repertoire, Corey Trahan is an active performer, educator and stage director in opera, oratorio, music theatre, operetta and recital venues. Known for his comic timing, versatile voice, and onstage charisma, he is being seen and heard internationally in repertoire ranging from operatic classics to modern musical theatre. In addition to performing, Corey was the Biedenharn Endowed Chair in Music at the University of Louisiana, Chair of Music Theatre at Mahidol University in Bangkok, Thailand and an Associate Professor of Theatre/Coordinator of Musical Theatre at Northwestern State University. Currently, Corey is on the voice faculty at T.C.U. and part of the music ministry at St. Monica Catholic Church.
Corey's academic degrees include the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of North Texas, the Master of Music degree from the University of Houston and the Bachelor of Music degree from Louisiana State University.
