I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats of this bread will live forever;
and the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.”
John 6:51
Baptized children in first grade (or older) and their parents attend a class every week for two consecutive years to prepare for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.
Classes are offered on Sundays 12:15pm-1:45pm and 3:15pm-4:45pm (the latter time is reserved solely for siblings of youth preparing for Confirmation).
Adults wishing to receive their First Holy Communion will join our RCIA program: Click here to learn more.
PARENT INVOLVEMENT
Family catechesis precedes, accompanies, and enriches other forms of instruction in the faith. Parents have the mission of teaching their children to pray and to discover their vocation as children of God. The parish is the Eucharistic community and the heart of the liturgical life of Christian families; it is a privileged place for the catechesis of children and parents.
Catechism of the Catholic Church, no 2226
At St. Monica, parents play an indispensable role in the religious education of their children. Children and parents attend a class every week at the same time. Parents receive accessible theology and tools to catechize and bring their children closer to Jesus in the Eucharist.
