MONDAY BIBLE STUDY

Roger Fischer

Roger Fischer is nominated for his outstanding service with the Monday Bible Study group. Although he has no formal training in education, Roger is blessed with his ability to convey what he reads. He is driven to excellence and has educated himself not only on the Bible, but Church history, the Catechism, doctrine and canon law.

In 2002, Roger began attending the Monday afternoon Bible study group and has been its leader since around 2005. His dedication to the group is a calling. He evaluates and selects our materials and subsidizes it with additional personal research. When he cannot find adequate Catholic course work, he makes it himself. He has taught us Women of the Bible, and is working on an Introduction to Islam for us to better understand. In fact, Bible Study may be a misnomer as our class is more like an Adult Catholic Education. We have never encountered and cannot imagine any lay person who knows more about the things Catholics need to know.

In addition to his role in Monday Bible Study, Roger has served in Little Rock Scripture Study, taught 3rd grade CCD at St. Monica for 5 years and has led the Holy Rosary on Tuesday nights in the perpetual adoration chapel for the past 18 years. Additionally, Roger and his wife Lucia volunteered at North Dallas Shared Ministries for several years, with Lucia working in the food pantry and Roger worked in the computer room doing data entry.

PASTORAL FAMILIAR HISPANA
(Family Pastoral Ministry)

Gilbert and Emma have been a pillar within the Pastoral Family Ministry for all the service they have given. We have seen their spiritual growth for the last 9 years, serving as a married couple and as a family for the ministry and community.

They lovingly adopted a newborn, well aware of the added responsibility it brought to their lives. Today, Emmanuel, is 9 years old and the Lopez family continues to make time for the ministry and Our Lord, despite what other responsibilities they may have at home.

Gilberto and Emma have been patient and obedient with whatever God has put in their path. Under their leadership, more married couples have come to know and understand God’s love. They have guided other couples to become leaders within the ministry. As is in the Word of God, “…a tree is known for the fruit it bears…”, and Gilbert and Emma are a tree for the ministry.

Gilbert and Emma currently coordinate spiritual leaders of the ministry. There are 8 spiritual leaders that require their support, both spiritually and in family matters.
