ADULT CATHOLIC EDUCATION

Edward Holmberg, “Outstanding Volunteer”

Ask anybody in our class who is our resident saint and Ed would be the unanimous selection because of his personal challenges at home and what he contributes to discussions in Adult Catholic Education meetings. In addition, Edward has taken over the facilitation of our summer programs for at least the last three or four summers and keeps attracting participants. He's probably the most orthodox Catholic in our parish. All of us have become holier Catholics because of Ed's example. It's kind of like having the tough and merciful love of Jesus in our midst because he lives it every day.

Our list of needs is growing every month. So is our list of thanksgivings. People are turning to prayer, and depending on this ministry to add prayers for their needs. Diane has been at the parish and school for over 20 years. In spite of having a big family and a job, she makes it a point to keep the group going with email updates to the intentions as needed, and meeting as a group once a month. She is faithful to prayer, and so beautifully leads the prayers every month covering every person on the list. She nurtures the members' faith by letting us know of interesting talks at the parish, passing out prayer cards periodically, and sharing good Christian reading material. There is a time of fellowship and sharing at the meetings which is priceless. It gives the members a chance to talk about anything that is concerning them, and it helps to hear the other members' perspectives and experiences. The parish is indeed blessed to have a strong Christian mother lead a prayerful venture of this nature!
