Patricia Smith, “Outstanding Volunteer”

Trisha has been a parishioner of St. Monica for 22 years, since 1997. She has served as an Extraordinary Minister and served in the role of coordinator and leader for Extraordinary Ministers. In that role she did a lot to facilitate all the ministers, which can be a challenge in itself. The job she did with all the Extraordinary Ministers plus being a parent, spouse and taking care of her mother makes Trisha an exceptional volunteer nominee.

Jose Juan Otero, “Voluntario Excepcional”

Nominamos a Jose Juan porque es gran persona, por su humildad, entrega, disponibilidad y amor al servicio de Dios.

Es ejemplo como familia. La familia Otero sirve hace 7 años a la Parroquia de Santa Mónica, y empezaron a servir como Ministros Extraordinarios de la Sagrada Comunión él y su esposa. Después se integraron al grupo de Pastoral Familiar sirviendo como familia en este grupo, comparten reflexiones para Matrimonios y siempre sirven con amor y alegría.

Jose Juan siempre está atento a ayudar a los demás en nuestro ministerio y en la parroquia. Por esa y mucho más razones lo nominamos para voluntario.

Jose Juan Otero, “Outstanding Volunteer”

Jose Juan is nominated for being a great person of humility, devotion, always being available to serve and for his love for God. He has an exemplary family. The Otero family has been serving St. Monica parish and community for over 7 years. He and his wife serve as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion at the Spanish Mass. They also joined Pastoral Familiar Hispana as a family. Jose Juan and his wife share talks for the married couples. They always serve with love and joy. Jose Juan is always available to help others in the ministry as well as the parish. For this and so much more, we nominate Jose Juan as our ministry volunteer.

PROCLAMADORES (Spanish Lector Ministry)

Adrian Chávez, “Voluntario Excepcional”

El nominado de este ministerio es el Sr. Adrián Chávez, un gran ser humano. Tiene un año y medio en nuestro ministerio. Él es muy servicial, siempre al pendiente de que se necesita. El y su esposa forman un gran equipo familiar. Es un ejemplo de servicio, una persona muy prudente, sabe al hablar y siempre escucha y lo pone en práctica. Participo 14 años sirviendo en Pastoral Familiar donde ayudaron a parejas con problemas. Tienen mucho celo por trabajar con las familias. Ahí lideraron el grupo de música y poco antes de salir de ahí entraron a Proclamadores donde ellos comparten que se sienten parte de Santa Mónica. Es un gran privilegio para él poder proclamar la palabra. La palabra de Dios le ha motivado a estudiar las Sagradas Escrituras en las clases de la universidad que se imparten en la parroquia. Adrián también ayuda en el Grupo de Hombres - San José.

Adrian Chavez, “Outstanding Volunteer”

Adrian Chavez is the nominated volunteer for the Spanish Lector Ministry. He has served in this ministry for a year and a half, and is a social person, always ready to serve where needed. Adrian and his wife form a great family team. Adrian is a wise person. He speaks when he needs to, but above all, he is a good listener and puts into practice what he hears.

Adrian and his wife served in Pastoral Familiar for 14 years, where they helped families with problems. They have a deep devotion to work with families. While serving in this ministry, they led the musical ministry. Shortly before leaving Pastoral Familiar, they joined the Spanish Lector Ministry. For him, it is a great privilege to be a Lector. This ministry has motivated him to further study Sacred Scriptures at university level. Adrian also serves in Grupo de Hombres-San Jose.

PROCLAMADORES DE LA MISA DE NIÑOS Y ADOLESCENTES (MASS FOR CHILDREN & YOUTH)

Valentina Aguinaga Márquez “Voluntaria Excepcional”

La niña Valentina Aguinaga Márquez, alumna de la escuela de esta iglesia, quien también está en el Coro de Niños en inglés, y es Servidora del Altar y Proclamador en la Misa de Niños en español. Destaca por su disciplina, madurez para interpretar  y reflexionar las lecturas. Tiene en su corazón la sencillez de una niña de su edad y confía en Dios. Por eso estamos seguros que reconocer su trabajo y esfuerzo seria para ella muy motivante.

Reconocer el trabajo y desempeño de los niños que sirven en nuestra parroquia es ejemplo para que otros niños  y adolescentes se acerquen también, y en el futuro sean buenos ciudadanos, y que nazca de ahí el deseo de la vocación al sacerdocio y religiosas.

Valentina Aguinaga Márquez “Outstanding Volunteer”

Valentina is an alumnus of St. Monica Catholic School. She serves in the Children’s Choir in English, and is an Altar Server and a Lector for the Children’s Mass in Spanish. She exceed in her discipline and maturity in interpreting and reflecting the readings. She has the simplicity of a child her age and in her faith in God. For these reasons we recognize her service and going above and beyond in motivating others.

Recognizing the work and commitment of these children that serve in our parish is an example for other children and teenagers to become closer to God, to be good citizens and increase their awareness in religious vocation.

USHER MINISTRY

John Saldaña “Outstanding Volunteer”

John has been a parishioner of St. Monica for 37 years, since 1982. He has served faithfully as an Usher, at the Sunday, 11:30am Mass for 28 years. He has signed up to serve as needed, for special Masses outside of our regular scheduled Masses, such as Christmas, Ash Wednesday, and Easter Saturday Mass. He has taken Junior Ushers under his wing, guiding them patiently. John also recruited and encouraged his wife to join the Usher Ministry. For all of this, John is nominated as outstanding volunteer of our St. Monica Usher Ministry.

HOSPITALIDAD (Spanish Usher Ministry)

Claudia Mendoza Alvizu “Voluntaria Excepcional”

La niña Claudia Mendoza se destaca por ser una líder y amante del servicio a Dios y a su comunidad. Desde Abril del 2015 llego al ministerio junto con sus tres hermanas; mismas que son servidoras del Altar y Proclamadores de la Palabra  y que destaca con su alegría, obediencia y desenvolvimiento al recibir y acomodar feligreses conforme van llegando a Nuestra Santa Eucaristía. También motiva a sus amiguitas del grupo familiar al que pertenece para que se inscriban en el ministerio y sean servidores del Señor.

Sus padres son para ellas un ejemplo de amor y servicio, pues también sirven como Ministros Extraordinarios de la Sagrada Comunión; son una familia de oración, fe, servicio y amor a Dios. Por lo que consideramos que sería muy conveniente que este año sea nuestra nominada de Hospitalidad.

Claudia Mendoza Alvizu “Outstanding Volunteer”

Claudia exceeds in her leadership and service to God and the community. Claudia has served as a Spanish Junior Usher since 2015 when she joined along with her three sisters. They also serve as Altar Servers and Junior Lectors. She is full of joy, obedient and always alert to receive and assist parishioners at Mass. Claudia motivates and encourages her friends and family to join the ministry. Claudia’s parents are an example of love and service. They serve as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion.  They are a family of prayer, faith, service and love to God. For these reasons, we nominate Claudia for Hospitalidad Junior Usher for Spanish Mass.

WELCOME MINISTRY

                  

Andy Morrison “Outstanding Volunteer”

George “Andy” Morrison has been a parishioner of St. Monica for 21 years, since 1998. He has been serving as a Greeter for the Welcome Ministry for more than a year now. Greeters are asked to commit to serving once a month, for the 9:30am, 11am or 12:30pm Mass. Andy has gone above and beyond, frequently serving weekly for up to 2 Masses as a Greeter. He is committed in faith to serve in this role. It is for this that the Welcome Ministry proudly nominates Andy Morrison as 2019 volunteer for the St. Monica Welcome Ministry.
