PREPARATION FOR First Holy Communion

Dear Parents,

We begin this week of Thanksgiving with hearts filled with gratitude!  This note contains a schedule change, so please read all the way to the end.

We are grateful to Father Guadagnoli for his spiritual leadership and guidance. We are grateful to our catechists and volunteers who have gone above and beyond to engage and inspire our children in the midst of varying classroom environments. We are grateful to our families who have helped our program run smoothly during these unusual times and to all those who have made great financial sacrifices to support our faith formation classes and programs.

As we look forward to Thanksgiving this week, in an effort to protect the health and safety of our volunteers and families we will be making an adjustment to our classes. On Sunday, November 29th, all parents will pick up a packet to complete at home with their child(ren) instead of having class on campus.

This is not due to transmission of COVID or any other virus but is a preventative measure.   We fully anticipate returning to in-person classes on Sunday, December 6th.

How will this work?

  1. On Sunday, November 29th, at your normal class time, all families must come to St. Monica to pick up a packet to complete at home with their child.  The completed packet is to be handed in by your child to their catechist on December 6th when they return to class.
  2. Please enter the Walnut Hill parking lot at the entrance farthest from the Church on Walnut Hill.  You will drive past the cafeteria where you will be given packet(s) for your child(ren).  Then you will drive out through the back alley.  You will stay in your car the entire time- this is just like going through a drive-thru!
  3. Parents will receive a link by text or email to watch a parent class online.  After watching the video they must email their answers to the corresponding questions to .
  • As soon as you email the answers, parents will receive credit for attending class
  • As soon as completed packets are turned in on Dec 6th, children will receive credit for attending class

Helping parents and children to know Jesus Christ and grow in holiness is our highest priority.  One of the ways we do this is by safeguarding the health and well-being of the St. Monica community. Thank you for your support and flexibility!  Be assured of our prayers for your family as you celebrate Thanksgiving and prepare to enter into the season of Advent!

With gratitude,

St. Monica Faith Formation Team

Estimados padres,
